Tuesday I posted !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and today I has news!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I contacted the county sheriff's office, gave them my story and the video, and last night they called me back. They're going to contact the other driver, get his/her side of the story, and I have to give them more info: How close did the car get to mine, and did I need to take any evasive action to avoid it.... well I didn't need to take evasive action because I saw it coming towards me... I'll have to recheck the video to see if I swerved to the right at all.

As far as distance, I am taking a measuring tape and finding a Focus hatch to make a dashcam video of just how far things appear off when looking through a convex lens.

Maybe I'll borrow my wife's grandma's car.... it's exactly like the car that cut me off except... its red.

"Your honor, the car in the measuring tape video is red. The color change affects the light reflected into the camera and recorded on the video. The defense moves to dismiss the video from the evidence in this case."

You can also use time to measure the distance between you and the Focus, then run some maths at the speed you thought you were traveling.

I was prepared to forgive the focus the cut off, because although stupid I've seen worse, but the asshattery at the end was just ridiculous.

Spoken like a true American. ;) (it's ok, I'm one too)

Honestly, the idea with the wife's grandma's Focus should be sufficient. It'll give you an idea of how close the driver actually was. If the sheriffs bothered to watch the full video, they'd see the aggro behavior as well.

They did. They wished I hadn't flashed my brights, as it may have angered the person in the Focus to doing something with something he/she may have or not have had.

You can come up with a pretty good estimate off the lane markings. From what I've found the standard pattern in the U.S. is a 30 foot gap with a 10 foot stripe. Since the gap between your hood and his rear bumper has nothing but stripe in it there isn't very much space. Granted because of the blind spot in front of your hood there is probably some bare ground there but not much. To figure out the distance you only need to figure out how long the blind spot is to where your camera can see ground. The Focus is less than 10 feet away from the start of your blind spot.
